Opening the apps the first time

These apps are made by one independent developer and are not registered with Apple, so on first launch macOS shows "Apple could not verify … is free of malware". That warning appears for every app outside Apple's paid program, not because anything was found. You only do this once per app.

1. Open the downloaded .dmg and drag the app into Applications.
2. Double-click the app. When the warning appears, click Done (not Move to Trash).
3. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll down to Security.
4. Next to the message about the app, click Open Anyway, then enter your Mac password.
5. Click Open in the last dialog. From now on it opens normally.
